Susan K. Chevalier, age 79, of Litchfield Park, AZ, died on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 7:24 p.m. in Timber Point Healthcare Center in Camp Point, IL.
Susan was born on August 10, 1946, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Albert and Juanita Parker Wiedeman. On August 17, 1968, she married Jimmy Chevalier, MD. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2003.
Susan was a 1968 graduate of Illinois College, where she earned degrees in French and mathematics. She later received her master's degree in French from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
Susan was an educator for 31 years, teaching French, mathematics, and gifted classes. In 1981, she and her husband moved to Litchfield Park, Arizona. During her time there, she was actively involved with the PTA, Girl Scouts, the Litchfield Library Guild, the St. Thomas Aquinas choir, the Ministry of Care, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and the Luke Air Force Base Thrift Shop.
Susan will be remembered for her warm and vibrant personality, which shone she found joy in antiquing, traveling, and cherishing time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. Susan was deeply dedicated to her students and was known for her unwavering love for her family and friends. Her faith was central to her life, and she served the Lord faithfully through various ministries at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Survivors include two children: Danion "Dan" (Kristie) Chevalier of Quincy and Nicole Chevalier of Vienna, VA; three grandchildren: Kate, Luke, and Leah; and a brother, Craig Wiedeman.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Litchfield Park, AZ. Memorial donations may be made online at: https://memorials.hansenspear.com/. Services will be streamed live at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.
A Rosary will be recited on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. CT, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Wallace, NE, with Fr. Thomas Bush as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in the MorningView Cemetery at Wallace.
