Pamela S Gittlein

Pamela Sue "Ohmie" Gittlein was born April 6, 1952, to Harold and Maxine (Zahn) Ohmie in Longmont, Colorado. Pam left this world on September 6, 2026, at the Perkins County Hospital with her husband and family at her side. She was 74 years old.

Pam was the oldest of four children raised on the farm that her parents lovingly worked together. Their hard work and determination molded Pam in that same way. She was never afraid to get her hands dirty, she could drive any piece of equipment she was asked to and at the same time could master any fabric pattern laid in front of her.

While in high school at Mead and Longmont, Pam met her partner in crime Peter Gittlein. They loved fast cars and sharing a night out on the town. After graduation and attending Parks Business school the two were wed at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Frederick on May 15, 1971. In August of 1972, they welcomed their first son Jeremey Peter to the Gittlein family dairy in Hudson. Jonathan Paul and David Bryan later joined the family to complete "Pam's boys".

The family moved to Bridgeport, Nebraska in 1979 and ventured out into their own farming enterprise. Pam lovingly and firmly taught her boys hard work, honesty, and dedication to their faith. While the 80's were hard, she gave everything she had to her boys so they had the very best chance at life. Pam and her siblings were active in the Rinn Valley 4-H club in their younger years and that made a lasting impression on her. She was leader of the Redington Valley 4-H club for more years than any of us could recall and she made sure her boys were active in numerous projects from baking, sewing, poster projects and her absolute favorite, the beef project. While holding down a bank job, she managed to get each of them to wrestling practice, 4-H meetings, catechism (and even gymnastics for one of them!). Most of her time was spent in a vehicle as they lived a long distance from town, but she made sure they ate a hot meal together at the end of each day.

They made a move to Phoenix, Arizona in the early 90's to join her mother and "baby" sister Marla. The time spent with her family meant the entire world to Pam. She lovingly kept tight ropes on her brother Larry and sister Kathy in Colorado as well. Her nieces and nephews loved her dearly because of her fun nature and excellent cooking skills.

When Pam became a grandmother she knew God put her on this earth for that very reason. Her heart swelled with pride for each of her six grandchildren. Following their numerous school activities, piano recitals, sporting events and 4-H activities gave her so much joy.

Nebraska was always home, and Pete and Pam recently returned to be where their hearts called them. They settled in Scottsbluff. Pam lived with many chronic conditions but she never complained and never wanted to be a burden. Just two days before her passing, Pete and Pam settled into Western Sky Community Care facility in Grant to be closer to family and get a handle on her health. It was a great shock to lose her so quickly, but we rest easy knowing she is in God's hand and no longer suffering.

Pam leaves behind her husband of 55 years Pete; sons Jeremey (Amy) Gittlein of Wauneta, Jonathan (Evan) Gittlein of Golden, David Gittlein of Surprise, AZ, grandsons Regan and Brady Gittlein of Wauneta, granddaughter Nichole Gittlein of Flagstaff, AZ, Jayme Gittlein of Tishomingo, OK, Katherine (Kate) and Emily Gittlein of Golden, CO. Also surviving Pam is her brother Larry Ohmie (Sandra Thompson), sisters Kathy (Joel) Lynch, Marla Boles, and sister in law Marie (Bob) Devisscher along with her nieces Morgan, Christine and Laura, nephews Brandon, Jake, Kyle, Rob, Christopher, and Daniel. Also mourning her is Michelle Gittlein of Peoria and numerous cousins who were her best friends in life.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Maxine; father and mother-in-law, Frank and Catherine; brothers-in-law Frank and Willie; sisters-in-law Judy and Kathleen, her special niece Amanda, nephew Austin and her unborn baby.

Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 2 pm mountain time at St. John's Catholic Church in Wauneta. Burial will be at the Riverside cemetery in Wauneta where Pam will be laid to rest next to her Grandparents. A Rosary and wake service will be on Friday, September 11, at 5 pm at St. John's Catholic Church in Wauneta.
