Lyla L. Hahn

February 3, 1931 — March 16, 2026

LYLA L. HAHN, 95, of Elsie, passed away March 16, 2026, at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

Lyla was born February 3, 1931, at rural Grainton, Nebraska, to Clarence and Inez (Martin) Knoles. She attended country school at both Robertson and Olson Schools before attending Elsie High School.

On February 15, 1948, Lyla was united in marriage to Lloyd J. Hahn. The couple made their home in the Elsie area, where Lyla's life would be centered around the farm and her family.

Lyla was a devoted farm wife and mother. She worked tirelessly to meet the demands of their farm operation, as well as the needs of her husband and children. In all of her 95 years, she never ate the bread of idleness. At nearly 94 years old, Lyla was still driving tractors, and her favorite was pulling the grain cart during harvest. She was always willing to help wherever she might be needed.

Lyla was fantastic in the kitchen. Her baking was fabulous, especially her butter brickle and sour cream raisin pies, and homemade dinner rolls. Lyla's cinnamon rolls were a family favorite and always a compelling reason to visit.

When her grandchildren were born, a new dimension was added to her life. She cherished the time she spent with each of them and was so proud of them. Lyla enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: walking, following Nebraska volleyball, feeding her family, and visiting with her friends.

She was a longtime member of the Elsie Methodist Church and participated in church activities, including the funeral dinner committee and Bible studies.

In addition to her husband, Lyla was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa, and siblings, Mildred Leonhardt, Lula Kennicutt, Ann Benben, Lola Fear, and Clarence Knoles.

Survivors include her children, Lorrena (Lee Roy) Becker of Lincoln, Josie (Dan) Hughes of Venango, Lana (Duane) Wood of Wallace, and Troy (Renee') Hahn of Elsie; nine grandchildren, Kaylyn and Matthew Hahn, Amy Becker, Ashley Colglazier, Tyler Hughes, Mandy Brenner, Michelle Dircksen, Ryan and David Wood; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; her brother, Nyle Knoles of Wellfleet; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
