John Henry Yancey

John Henry Yancey, 73, of Madrid, Nebraska, passed away August 15, 2026, at Perkins County Health Services in Grant, Nebraska.

John was born September 16, 1952, in Fort Morgan, Colorado. In the mid-1990s, John made his way to Grant, where he settled into carpentry work in the area.

John had a meticulous eye, and was truly a craftsman. He believed a job was worth doing right, and the work he left behind is a testament to his talent and attentiveness to detail. Away from the job site, John was happiest outdoors. He loved to fish, and he loved hunting prairie dogs whenever he got the chance. His dog Maya was his pride and joy, a steady companion to him over the years.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Madrid Cemetery.
