GLADYS MARY WOOD, 97, longtime Wallace resident, departed from this life Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Sutherland Care Center.

She was born May 23, 1918 to August and Theresa (Schnitzer) Sullentrup north of Grainton, NE. She attended rural school in the Grainton area before graduating from Grainton High School.

On November 24, 1938 she married Harold Spencer Wood. Gladys was a school bus driver for the Wallace School District for 17 years. She also worked in the Wallace Post Office and the grocery and dry goods store. She belonged to the American Legion Woman's Auxiliary and was a lifetime member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church of Wallace.

Gladys enjoyed going to Mount Pleasant, Iowa to the Old Thrasher Reunion each year. She also liked to go to Arkansas to visit Marilyn and family.

Gladys was a loving grandmother and great grandmother. She especially loved to have her family around the dinner table with everyone's favorite dish and was willing to help when needed. She knew how to prepare the best dishes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Theresa; brothers, Eugene Sulluntrup and wife, Robert Sullentrup and wife; sister, Eleanor Goedert and husband; grandson,Nick Ogier and son-in-law Bill Ogier.

She was survived by three daughters, Marilyn Ogier, of Alpena, Arkansas, Gwen (Harold) Miller, of Albion, and Marlene (Dennis) Kuskie, of Casa Grande, Arizona; two sons Robert Wood, Duane (Lana) Wood; of Wallace.

Twelve grand-children, Mark Ogier, Tim (Sheila) Ogier, Janet (Gary) Wilcox, all of Alpena, Arkansas. Kevin Miller, of Omaha, Becky Miller, of Kearney. Jennifer Kuskie and Michael Kuskie, and Kristen (Tracey) Smith all of Casa Grande, Arizona. Mandy (Matt) Brenner and Ryan Wood and David Wood all of Wallace, and Michelle (Tanner) Dircksen, of North Platte. Ten great-grandchildren and Five great-great grandchildren. One niece; and two nephews.

Memorials will be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church of Wallace or as designated. Condolences may be shared at

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 10:30AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wallace with Father Tom Kuffel as celebrant. Burial will be in the Morning View Cemetery at Wallace, NE.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 9:00AM - 5:00PM Mountain Time at Bullock-Long Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7:30PM Central Time at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wallace.
