Evelyn was born on December 26, 1936 in Harlan County on the family farm near Orleans, Nebraska. She was born to Elmer Gale and Lucille Grace (Hays) Malone. She was the oldest of seven children.

Evelyn had a defining moment at age 11 when she invited Jesus into her heart as her personal Lord and Savior. She was a member of the Methodist Church and Evangelical Free Church and belonged to Jesus.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Clifford Allen McGregor on June 1, 1958. The couple then made their home in California as Clifford was stationed there in the Army Reserves. Evelyn was blessed to be a wife and stay at home mom for many years. She loved being a wife and mother. She was blessed when she became a grandmother as well as a great grandmother.

Evelyn was asked to start early childhood education in Grainton, Hayes Center, and Wauneta. She became well known with Peter Rabbit Preschool, where she taught for 31 years.

Evelyn served her Lord with all of her heart. She taught and directed vacation bible schools, directed youth choirs, and taught many Sunday school classes. Evelyn always loved to sing. She also served as a volunteer in Stonecroft Ministries for many years. She led and coordinated many bible studies and helped to organize Christian Women's Clubs in Wallace, Grant, and Ogallala serving in all of the positions as well as the area/regional representative.

Faith was of foundational importance in Evelyn's life. She was always open and ready to provide a witness for the faith she had. Evelyn was a Godly example to her family and friends. She spent many years joyfully and diligently 'campaigning' for Jesus.
