August 9, 1920 — November 5, 2015

Elvera “Vera” Seiler, age 95 of Lincoln, long time Grant resident, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Bryan LGH East.

Vera was born August 9, 1920 at Grainton, Nebraska to Chris and Hulda (Johnson) Jensen. Vera attended rural school in the Madrid area.

On September 17, 1939, Vera married William Seiler at the Seiler family residence at Madrid. The couple made their home in Elsie and Grant, where they were blessed with 11 children. Vera was very family oriented, and she cherished the times when everyone was together. She was especially proud of her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Vera was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking. Between fried chicken, mashed potatoes and her many German recipes, her family made many enjoyable memories of time spent around the dinner table. Vera also enjoyed quilting.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, William; son, Don; 2 grandsons, Bea Seiler and Joe Rathbun; 2 sisters, Della McCormick and Althea Jensen.

Survivors include her 10 children, Barb Seiler of Arvada, CO, Larry (Pam) Seiler of Sutherland, Bonita (Lyle) Regennitter of Pierre, SD, Jeannette (Rex) Rathbun of Sioux Falls, SD, Sherry (Louie) Cauffman of Dickens, Connie Seiler of Wheat Ridge, CO, Cindy (Mike) Fitzgerald of North Platte, Rick (Maria) Seiler of Westminster, CO, Lisa (Dan) Bohm of Omaha and Kim Young of Lincoln; 23 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
