William D Palu

November 12, 1948 — October 11, 2021

William "Bill" Palu of North Platte passed away October 11, 2021, in North Platte.

Bill was born November 12, 1948, at Julesburg, Colorado, to Clarence Joseph and June Ellen (Benson) Palu. He graduated from Wheatland High School. In 1969, Bill entered the US Navy, where he worked as a mechanic.

Following his discharge from the Navy, Bill returned to Perkins County, where he farmed all his life. The Palu farm, which spanned three generations, was a source of pride for Bill. The outdoors was always a sanctuary for him, and he spent countless hours gardening when he wasn't working in the dirt in other ways.

Bill had a quiet demeanor but was always willing to help others. A nice clean vehicle was a source of enjoyment for Bill, and he was meticulous in the way he cared for his things. The skills that he learned as a Navy mechanic served him well in maintaining and fixing vehicles and machinery.

Bill was also a man of faith and made it a point to be at Mass and take time for prayer in his life.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Clarence Gary Palu.

Survivors include his children, Emil (Lisa) Palu of Harrisburg; Diane (Brandon) Palu-McArthur of Whitewood, SD, Ruth Palu of North Platte; Clementina (Gilbert) Rosa of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren, Aspen, Kesmera, Ezekiel, Mickayla, Cloie, Chase, Olivia, Molly, Steven, Jessie, Dominic, Ricardo, Diona, Rebecca, Adrian, Raquel, and Vanessa; six great-grandchildren, Delilah, Reyna, Gerald, Lola, Gustavo, and Evelynn; siblings, Karen (Don) Chandler of North Platte, Bruce (Pat) Palu of North Platte, Linda (Dana) Cornelius of Madrid, JoEllen Peterson of Drake, CO, and Paul Palu of Madrid; along with many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services with military honors will be Saturday, 10:30 am MT at Grant Fairview Cemetery, with Fr. Thomas Bush officiating.
