Sonya R. Study

September 22, 1974 — August 15, 2017

SONYA R. STUDY, 42 of Grant, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Madonna Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care Facility in Lincoln.

Sonya was born September 22, 1974, at Sidney, Nebraska to Louis and Cheri (Beisner) Study. She was the second child between Louis and Cheri.

Sonya was diagnosed at the age of 2 as developmentally disabled and was not predicted to live past the age of 6. She spent the majority of her life in a home in the Scottsbluff area for the developmentally disabled where she attended school as well. Sonya was loved immensely by her family, who would often bring her home for family reunions and holidays. Sonya was a pure and untainted soul that could touch the heart of a perfect stranger with her smile and personality despite her inability to speak throughout her life. Sonya was a great teacher and taught her family the true meaning of love and compassion. Her hindrances were not enough to overshadow her vibrant personality, which was often on full display around loved ones and the nurses and doctors that cared for her. Some of Sonya's favorite things were butterflies, mashed potatoes and gravy, family time, watching the news, listening to the Christian music station, and the colors purple and green.

Sonya was preceded in death by her father, Louis; and grandparents, Verla and John Bates; Merlin Beisner, and many other family members that cherished and loved Sonya.

Sonya is lovingly survived by her mother, Cheri Beisner of North Platte; 2 sisters, Lisa (Scott) Stafford of Colorado Springs, CO, Nicole and (Jamie) Thompson of North Platte; 2 brothers, Chris and Phillip Study, both of Lincoln; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and four great-nephews.

Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.
