Rory Dale Jameson

April 4, 1958 — January 25, 2019

RORY DALE JAMESON, 60 of Elsie, passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 in Perkins County.

Rory was born April 4, 1958 in Lincoln, NE to Dwight and Mary Lou (Bower) Jameson. He attended elementary school in Elsie and graduated from Wheatland High School in Madrid with the class of 1976. Rory attended college in Lincoln where he studied agriculture and took flying lessons.

Following college, Rory came back to the family farm. He eventually met Nora in Feb. 1983 while on an outing in North Platte and the two were then married on October 9, 1983. The couple moved to a house south of the farm, where resided for the next 29 years.

Rory was an extremely patient man and seemed to have a smile on his face most always. Trucking was one of his great passions, and he typically logged 100,000 miles a year. He hauled loads throughout the US and Canada in his blue Freightliner, jokingly referring to himself as a paid tourist. Rory had a gift with machinery, and could seemingly fix anything. With seldom few exceptions, Rory did all of his own work on his trucks over the years. His newest truck was perhaps the most finicky and confounding of rigs he'd owned, which compelled Rory to playfully nickname her Tammy Fay. He also loved old tractors, particularly the old two-cylinder John Deere tractors. Rory won many events at the Wallace Fall Festivals over the years.

While he was well decorated in the field of tractor events, Rory would have also won the award for Worlds' Slowest Eater. His family and friends always knew that Rory would be the last at the table, thoroughly enjoying all that was meant to be savored.

Rory was serious about his convictions and had deep faith in the word of God. He served as a deacon at his church, New Life Fellowship in Grant, and was always anxious to serve in whatever capacity he could, even teaching himself how to run the sound system via youtube videos when the need arose.

Rory had a bit of a soft spot for sentimentalities and romanticism. His family often liked to tease him for his unorthodox preferences in TV and movies, but Rory was unapologetically, and often times amusingly, his own man. Perhaps this was why his smile always seemed to spread to the faces of those who shared the room with him.

Rory was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Darrin.

He is survived by his wife, Nora of Elsie; his children, Ella Jameson of Luverne, MN, Robert (Krista) Jameson of Omaha, Ilene (Dylan Haymore) Jameson of San Diego, CA, Morgan Jameson also of Luverne, MN; granddaughter Ruby Jameson; brother, Ray (Deb) Jameson of Wallace; along with many other relatives and friends.
