Margie E. Rowley

December 6, 1925 — January 1, 2018

MARGIE ELNOR ROWLEY, 92 of Grant, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.

Margie was born December 6, 1925 to James and Elma (Miller) Clark on the family farm in Chase County northwest of Imperial. Growing up on a farm she learned the meaning of hard work doing all the jobs to keep the farm going. In the dirty 30's we blew out, dried out or washed out. She learned to can the home grown fruits and vegetables. Also learned to bake an abundant amount for a large family. Sewing her own clothes, she road a horse three miles to a rural one-room schoolhouse through eighth grade. In the 1940's her brothers went to the war and her parents sold the farm and moved to Imperial. Margie worked at a rooming house.

In 1947, Margie married Milo Rowley. To this union 3 sons and 3 daughters were born. They made their home in Grant. She worked at a cafe while raising her family. She canned homegrown fruit and vegetables and made a lot of their clothes. After the family left home she traveled far and near for visits. Family was the focal point of her life. She had a garden and a large flowerbed. She won several ribbons at the Perkins County Fairs with her crafts, flowers, and vegetables.

Margie was an avid walker and she always had a quick wit to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, three sisters, and their spouses; her husband Milo Rowley; daughter, LaRetta Brewer; grandson, Lynn Skeels; and son-in-law, Nathan Skeels.

She leaves to mourn her passing daughters, Linda Skeels of CA, Lisa (Jeff) White of CA; sons, Leon Rowley of Grant, NE, Leslie (Christina) Rowley of Denver, CO, and Larry (Susan) Rowley of Arkansas; son-in-law, Lonny Brewer of Kansas; many grandchildren and step grand children; many great grand children and step great grand children; many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and her many friends.

To a Beautiful garden she has gone, to a land of Perfect rest; though she is gone she still lives on, in the garden of memories.
