Dale G. Styskal

May 15, 1945 — August 6, 2022

On August 6, 2022 Dale G. Styskal, 77, passed away peacefully in his home after a short battle with lymphoma. Twenty-seven hours later, Connie K. Styskal, 76, his loving wife of more than 57 years passed away on August 8, 2022 after struggling with Parkinson's disease and cirrhosis for over a year.

Dale was born on May 15,1945 in David City, Nebraska to George and Adeline (Kovar) Styskal. Connie was born April 3, 1946 in Grant, Nebraska to Evert and Doris (Sexson) Pankonin. Dale & Connie met while attending school in Grant where Dale enjoyed competing in many sports and Connie cheered him on as a cheerleader. Dale graduated Perkins County High School in 1963 with Connie following in 1964.

After high school, Dale attended Chadron State College to play football but fell ill and returned to Grant to recover. Dale attended Kearney State College the following year. After high school graduation, Connie attended cosmetology school in Lincoln. On December 29, 1964, Dale and Connie were married and started their life together in Kearney.

The couple were blessed with three sons, Kelly in 1966, Monty in 1967 and Todd in 1971. After returning to Grant, Dale went to work at Three Circle Irrigation (now Valley Pro) where he worked for more than 50 years, eventually becoming General Manager and part owner. Connie was mostly a stay at home mom while her boys were young and when they were older she had a few different jobs before starting her career at Pinnacle Bank. Connie enjoyed her job, especially meeting and talking with all the customers she served over the many years she spent at the bank.

Dale was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life. While his boys were still in western Nebraska, the family enjoyed spending nearly every weekend in the summer at their cabin at Lakeview on Lake McConaughy. Some of the best times he had were hunting with his friends and especially his kids and grandkids.

Dale and Connie spent their entire adult life together and enjoyed many common interests. Over the years they enjoyed traveling together especially to see their children and grandchildren. One of their favorite places to visit was Las Vegas where they would try to visit at least once a year. They could also frequently be found on the golf course on many summer days and traveling to surrounding courses for tournaments.

The couple is survived by their children, Kelly and wife Lauren of Aliso Viejo, California and their children Shane, Tyler and Sydney, Monty of Lincoln and his children Taylor and Drew, and Todd and his wife Jill of Lincoln and their children Reid, Cody and Lily. Other survivors include Dale's sister, Berniece Lewis, Connie's sister Pat Karre and husband Jack and her brother Tom and many other relatives and friends.
