July 10, 1922 — August 17, 2019

DANIEL PAUL GENGENBACH, 97 of Grant, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

Dan was born July 10, 1922, southeast of Grant, Nebraska to Christian "Chris" and Anna (Schurr) Gengenbach Jr. He attended District 76 rural school before graduating from Grant High School with the class of 1939. Dan subsequently joined the US Army, where he served in WWII.

On September 24, 1950, Dan was united in marriage to Evelyn L. Keuten at the old Zion Lutheran Church in Grant. The couple made their home five miles southeast of town, where they farmed and raised Hereford cattle.

Farming and ranching was an integral part of Dan's life, and it was truly his passion. Dan loved spending time with his family and went to great lengths to attend the Gengenbach family reunions over the years. He was active on a host of boards and genuinely loved to serve. He will be missed by his beloved wife of over 68 years, as well as his many loved ones.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Harold Gengenbach, Lillian Logsdon, Arlene Kurkowski, Dorothy Keuten, and George Gengenbach; brothers-in-law, Dean Russell and Jack Barry.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Grant; his three sisters, Eleanor Russell of North Platte, Rose Barry of Grant, Anita (Don) Most of Ogallala; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
