Clarence E. Williams

Clarence E. Williams, 91 of Wallace, Nebraska passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019, at his home in Wallace, Nebr.

He was born to W.L. (Roy) and Eva L. Williams on July 23, 1927 on a farm in Arthur County Nebraska. Clarence was the youngest of seven sons and had two sisters. Clarence graduated from Arthur County High School in 1944. He then served in the United States Maritime Service under the Coast Guard in the Pacific and Caribbean theaters. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in January, 1946 and then served in the Pacific Theatre of operations as a member of a B-29 crew and received an Honorable Discharge in January of 1949.

He was employed by Consumers Public Power and transitioned with the company when it became Nebraska Public Power and retired in September of 1991.

Clarence was a member in several fraternal organizations including serving as Master Mason, Moose Pilgrim in 2006, attained the position of District Grand Master in the Independent Order of Odd Fellow, Past Commander of Wallace, Nebr. American Legion, member of Eagles Fraternity, a past Post Commander of the VFW, Ogallala, Nebr., and a past member of the AMVETS.

On August 28, 1981 he married Leah Arlette Hazzard in their home, Wallace, Nebr. She survives.

Other survivors include one sister, Rosette Grigsby, Ogallala, Nebr.; four daughters, Linda Sloan and husband Mike, Paris, Tenn., Cynthia Huggins and husband Terry, Elicott, Colo., Eva Schaff and husband Mike, Brule, Nebr. and Kathy Haxton and husband Rod, Scott City; two step-children, Marvin Hutsell and Betty Courtney and husband Mike all of Mid Way Park, NC. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Earl, Harold, Walter, Oscar, Virgil and Robert; one sister, Marge Benson; two sons, Steven and Calvin; and one daughter Sandra Hankins.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service with military honors will be held tentatively on May 21, 2019 at 2:30p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE.
