Charles R. Oldaker

January 14, 1947 — June 17, 2022

CHARLES R. OLDAKER, 75, of Madrid, passed away June 17, 2022, at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant.

Chuck was born January 14, 1947, in Crawford, Nebraska, to Gayle and Anna Oldaker. Two brothers, Ed and Bill, would arrive later, making the family complete.

Chuck attended rural District 50 during his grade school years, sometimes riding a horse to school until a tornado destroyed the school barn. Chuck graduated from Sioux County High School in Harrison, NE, with the class of 1966.

On September 7, 1966, Chuck married the love of his life, Letha Bell. Their union was blessed with two children, Charles Allen on June 23, 1967, and Tammy Lynn on November 21, 1970. The couple was blessed to celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2016 at an open house hosted by their children.

Chuck loved the ranch, especially if the work entailed a motor. His favorite was the Caterpillar which he still checked on periodically. Chuck also cherished the time he spent in the hay field with his dad.

Chuck later went to work for the Sioux County Department of Roads for several years. The family eventually relocated to Chadron, where Chuck drove a semi, picking up machinery and delivering to customers.

In August of 1984, the family moved to Imperial, where Chuck went to work for R.J. And Bobby Schilke, and later, Charlie and Ron Anderson, as well as Bernhardt Trucking, where he delivered grain over a five-state area. Chuck also worked for Imperial Beef.

For 23 years, Chuck's pride and joy was his grandson, Trace. Whether helping him climb ladders, visiting at John Deere, or showing livestock, Chuck was always overjoyed to be with his grandson. In his later years, Trace got the chance to give his grandpa rides in the newest machinery.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Gayle and Anna; his son, Charles Allen; and his in-laws, Perry and Lola Bell.

Survivors include his wife, Letha of Madrid; daughter, Tammy (Brian) Helser and grandson, Trace of rural Champion; brothers, Ed (Robbin) Oldaker and their children, Annette, Janet, Amy, and Melvin and their families; Bill (Linda) Oldaker and their daughter, Cathy, and family; along with many other relatives.

Chuck is also survived by his special friend, Justin Davis, and his children, as well as Scott Fosbinder.

Chuck was so grateful for the wonderful care he received during his cancer journey, especially Dr. Byrd, Shannon Liewer, and the best nurse ever, Faye Johnson.

A memorial has been established in Chuck's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.
