ARNOLD F. SCHELLHORN, 90 of Grant, died Sunday, June 17, 2018, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home.
Arnold was born February 10, 1928, to Henry and Dora Weiss at Gladstone, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Gladstone, NE. He attended the country Grace Lutheran Church School District 50 for grade school and Fairbury High School.
Arnold worked with his father and uncle on the farm before entering the US Army. He spent two years in the service with one year in Korea. After his discharge, he returned to the farm and was also employed at a construction company. Arnold married Marical Sharp in Fairbury, NE. Two daughters, Roslyn and Jerilyn, were born to this union.
In 1954, Arnold moved to Denver, CO. He worked for Keebler Company until his retirement in 1987. While working at Keebler, he spent most of his 35 years as the Supervisor of the Mixing Department. After being retired in the Denver area for two years he moved to Montrose, CO to an acreage. There he enjoyed having horses, gardening, yard work, raising hay and fishing.
Arnold married Lorraine Price in 1972 in Denver, CO. In 1994, Arnold and Lorraine moved to Grant, NE. Arnold enjoyed working for local farmers. He was always a farmer at heart. Winters were spent in Texas.
Arnold's hobbies were fishing, hunting, rodeos and watching wildlife. In his boyhood, he spent time trapping fur-bearing animals.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two daughters, Roslyn (Steve) Harden of Lemoyne, NE, and Jerilyn Gnander of Brighton, CO; step son, Chuck (Jennifer) Price of Northglenn, CO; step daughter, Terri (Tom) Abrahamson of Littleton, CO; brother, Richard (Thelma) Schellhorn of Gilead, NE; sister, Leona (Ed) Svoboda of Seward, NE; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial has been established in his memory for later designation by the family. Condolences can be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.
Services will be Friday, June 22, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church of Grant with Pastor Ben Francisco officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 21st from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant.
