Suzanne Burnham was born on May 6, 1933 in Lincoln. She was the oldest of three girls born to Virgil and Florence Vrtiska Hays. Sue grew up in Omaha where she attended Omaha St. John’s school.
Sue was married to Kenneth Avery in Denver on December 15, 1950. They made their home in Denver and Sue worked for Red Seal Potato Chips, the Samsonite Company, and the Canteen Commissary.
Sue married Charles Burnham on October 18, 1968 at Sterling, Colorado. They lived in Denver until 1990 when they moved to Grant. Sue was involved with babysitting for several years when they lived in Grant. Sue had developed a malignancy last year and moved to the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in October. She died at Golden Ours on Monday, March 8, 2010. She had reached the age of 76.
Sue was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and embroidery. Her family’s welfare was always her top priority. Sue is survived by her husband, Chuck, of Grant; son - John (Lina) Avery of San Diego California; daughter - Judy (Marty Goans) Johnson of Denver; step-son, Dennis Burnham of Denver; 2 grandchildren - Jessica and Paul Bishop; 2 sisters - Sheila (Walter) Moberg of Arizona and Joyce Hamilton of Omaha; half-brother, Patrick (Kathy) Moore of Carter Lake Iowa and half-sister Gayle (Gary) Jibilisco of Omaha; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services to be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home Chapel with Father Mark Pfeiffer officiating. Cremation to take place after the funeral and the cremains will be buried in the Grant Cemetery.
