Malvin Rosentrater

Malvin Rosentrater was born on November 13, 1917 north of Elsie Nebraska. He was the youngest of four children born to Otto and Minnie Sukraw Rosentrater. Malvin grew up on the family farm and attended District #23 through the 8th grade. He did not attend high school, as his father needed his help on the farm.

Malvin was married to Clarice Stevenson on October 28, 1943 at the First Lutheran Church in North Platte. They lived on their farm northeast of Elsie their entire married life. Malvin continued to live at the farm after Clarice died in 2007 until September of 2008 when he moved to the Sutherland Care Center where he died Saturday night, August 8, 2009. He had reached the age of 91.

Malvin was an active member of the Paxton Trinity Lutheran Church and the adult Sunday School class. He had served on the school board of District #41 where his children attended when they were growing up.

In addition to his parents and wife, Malvin was preceded in death by 2 brothers-Ervin and Bill, 1 sister- Lillian Christensen, 1 son- Dan, and 1 grandson, Troy Rosentrater. He is survived by one daughter- Margie (Jim) Holm of Sutherland; three sons- Don (Diane) of Ritzville Washington, Gerald (Deb) of rural Elsie, and Rick; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services - Wednesday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paxton Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Elwood Hipple, officiating. Burial will be in the Paxton Cemetery. A memorial has been established.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I will really miss seeing Malvin in the mornings, getting him his coffee and kidding him about "getting up before the chickens". I enjoyed talking to Malvin.
