Lois Hutt was born on July 28, 1923 at Sanator South Dakota. She was the only child born to Mark and Jennie Erickson Hendrickson. She attended school in Hill City South Dakota where she graduated from high school. She started college in Chadron before transferring to the Bryan School of Nursing in Lincoln where she became a registered nurse. During her career, she worked as a nurse in Lincoln, Cozad, and Grant.

Lois met Harland J. Hutt while nursing and they were married on April 6, 1947 in Lincoln. They farmed in the Elk Creek-Tecumseh area until 1958 when they moved to Cozad. In 1966, the family moved to Grant where she lived the rest of her life. Lois moved to Park Ridge assisted living in Grant in 2001 and to the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in 2005. She had been in failing health and was transferred to the Perkins County Community Hospital last week where she died on Saturday afternoon, November 28, 2009. She had reached the age of 86.

Lois had been a past member of the Eastern Star, Legion Auxiliary, and the United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Harland in 2002, and her infant daughter, Linda in 1948. She is survived by 2 sons - Rod (Kathy) of Lincoln and Dennis (Ronda) of Grant; 1 grandson- John Hutt of Maple Grove Minnesota; 4 granddaughters - Suzanne Romeo of Ridgewood New Jersey, Janelle Uehling of North Platte, Valerie Uthlaut and Andrea Bazan, both of Laramie Wyoming; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sister-in-laws, Lucile Bates of Cozad and Betty Gaddis of Auburn California; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grant Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Russ Gaar, officiating. Burial in the Grant Cemetery. A memorial has been established.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
