James (Jim) Eastin
Date of Birth: 08/04/1936
Date of Death: 01/11/2010
Date of Funeral Service: 01/16/2010

James (Jim) Eastin was born on August 4, 1936 at Madrid Nebraska. He was one of four sons born to A.A. (Bill) and Elizabeth (Liz) Teichert Eastin. Jim grew up west of Madrid and graduated from Madrid High School in 1954.

Jim lived in several different locations including the states of Nebraska, Wisconsin, Colorado, Arizona, and Wyoming before returning to his native Nebraska for his final years. He lived in Madrid for a brief period before moving to Ogallala in 2009. Jim had been failing in health complicated by his long time struggle with lupus and was admitted to the Ogallala Community Hospital last week where he died early Monday morning, January 11, 2010. He had reached the age of 73.

Jim was a horseman, cowboy, and wildlife lover by nature and a truck driver by trade. He enjoyed working with horses, dogs, rodeos, reading, and the country music scene. He did not know a stranger and liked visiting with people. At one time, he transported country western singers by bus to county fairs for Hadley Barrett. He could relate many stories about his bus and truck driving days.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his three brothers - Clifton (Betty) of Clay Center, Jerry of Lincoln, and John (Pat) of Lincoln; other relatives and friends.

His body was cremated. Memorial graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the Madrid Cemetery with John Long, officiating. A memorial has been established to the Madrid United Methodist Church.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
