Agnes Evans was born on August 8, 1923 southeast of Grant Nebraska. She was the second of three children born to A.Albert and Selina French Bogaert. Agnes grew up on the farm and attended country school. She later attended school in Grant and graduated from Perkins County High School.

Agnes was married to Ed Evans on January 20, 1943 in Ogallala. They moved to a farm south of Madrid where they spent nearly their entire married life. Ed and Agnes moved to the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant the end of August and to the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island in December. She had been admitted to the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island the first week of January and died at St. Francis on Saturday morning, January 16, 2010. She had reached the age of 86.

Agnes enjoyed living on the farm and helping her husband in all aspects, even spending the day on the tractor with him. She had been a member of the Madrid Legion Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her two brothers- Eldon Wayne Bogaert and Burton Bogaert. She is survived by her husband of over 66 years, Ed; 2 sons - Karol and his wife Kay of Hastings and Roy and his wife Shirley of Sutherland; 4 grandchildren - Karol’s children - Chad and Kristy Evans and Roy’s children - Bret and his wife Angie and Carrie and her husband Tim Lange; 3 great grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Betty Bogaert of Grant; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Madrid United Methodist Church with Pastor Linda Battello, officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Cemetery.
